Loot is fun to get, equip and experiment with however, the drops really are a bit wonky. You can level up 5 different areas to make you stronger (like power or defense) but, how much does that actually affect? What does 5 power mean? How much damage does 10 defense block? How is defense different from block? At item lets me do 1 poison damage to enemies, is that good or complete dog doo-doo? If I have to look at stuff on a wiki when it easily could have been in the game, then that aspect of your game has failed. Lack of in game information some sort of encyclopedia would have super nice to explain your own stats as well as the monsters/world. It feels like padding to me, and it quickly becomes tiresome. Maybe you don't have to play the beginning level on startup if you have already beaten the boss 20 times. Maybe you can stash good items you don't need for your next playthrough. Maybe you can pick one item to carry over. Lack of checkpoints this very easily could have been avoided with some sort of checkpoint system. It all adds up to make the game very quickly become a repetitive experience, where you hope you get lucky with a good item so you don't have to play the same section another dozen times. The item drops are cool, but a lot of the good items drop very slowly. It is advisable to explore every room, as you really need better gear in order to progress. You start at the beginning every time, even if you have already rescued everyone and it is far too easy. As you level up and expand your facilities, there begins to be less to do in the dungeon.

Fighting feels pretty dynamic, especially early. The underlying leftovers beneath the attractive surface are extremely mediocre. Soon after that however, the game's shiny exterior quickly evaporates. The first few hours of gameplay are very promising I was excited to keep playing and for what was to come.
